Old Flames

Hot while it lasted back some time ago
How it ended is what they'll never know
The distance grew greater as they grew apart
But the returned forces have flickered a start
What would have happened if events had turned
In different ways, what lessons were learned

Old Flames, keep you awake in the night
Old Flames, keep that look in your eyes
Old Flames, makes you jot down a song
Old Flames, oh babe its been so long (been so long now)

Thinks of her and if she's still soft to touch
Dreams of him and how she loved him so much
The good times they had and held on to
The sad times they had were only a few
Keeping your mined on the joys of the past
Hoping this time it would certainly last

Old Flames, lighting up the night
Old Flames, keeping out of sight
Old Flames, but nobody knows
Old Flames, the smokes burning low (burning low now)

She slips him a note and breaks the ice
As he reads it the thought lights up his eyes
When rumors start flying you got to be sly
Remember the old tricks and fake alabi's
So next time when she comes back into town
Or he leaves, together they'll never be found

Old Flames, for the heck of it they smile
Old Flames, makes them reflect for a while
Old flames, tells us there's a place for the pain
Old Flames, shows us love's just a game (just a game now)
